Charm, charm, charm
Mougins is situated 20 minutes from Cannes, its larger and more boisterous neighbour. Smaller and most discrete it is in many ways almost as famous and no less sought after but by a very different type of crowd. You could say that Mougins is a suburb of Cannes (just don't say this to the locals). You do get a feeling as soon as you approach it that you are leaving Cannes urban landscape and entering what could be taken for the beginnings of the Provence. A few busier roads cruise through the town but otherwise you are on smaller less travelled residential roads with some beautiful houses and the famous town itself never far off.
Mougins has a very beautiful old historical centre 'Vieux Mougins', which dates to medieval times, with a panoramic view over Cannes and the surrounding coastline. The quality of the light here has long attracted artists with of course Picasso among them, but also Man Ray, Christian Dior and Edith Piaf. Come here to have easy access to teh ocean but at the same time to feel lost in a timeless warp of a small country village. were enticed to stay in this welcoming town.
Mougins is known for its restaurants, such as the Moulin de Mougins or Mas Candille which is also a Spa centre. It has numerous art galleries and several Provencal boutiques. Mougins is 10 minutes from Grasse with its well known perfume factories.
The Valmasque forest of Mougins offers mountain biking, horse riding and walking. There are also two professional 18 hole golf courses: Royal Mougins and Cannes Mougins.
