Faro Portugal

The Algarve rivals the south of Spain for good weather and great golf. Faro is the main airport and landing spot for international flights although many guests also land in Lisbon and drive the two hours to get to Faro. A new highway system makes transport seamless but beware of Portuguese drivers who seem to specialise in nasty accidents!

From Faro you can reach Tavira to the East and the famous golf resorts of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo to the West.

A car is a must as discovering nice restaurants and visiting the beaches must be on the agenda. Children will enjoy themselves especially in the golf resorts where they will find lots of other children to play with. Do not come here for wild night life; do come here for a rest. The beaches are lovely although you are not yet quite in the Mediterranean and the water can be cold.Neither direction is more than 25 minutes by car but each has its own character. Tavira is very much the Algarve as it has always been with beautiful countryside and lovely beach taverns. The golf resorts to the West are man made resorts with manicured lawns and everything a golfer dreams of. For you to choose.

If you like good wines and southern cuisine you will be well fed by the Portuguese although you might not understand a word they say (it is not as easy to understand as the Brazilian Portuguese).
